EADS denies mulling collapse of A400M project by LaurentH on Wed Jan 28, 2009 9:56 pm
By Tim Hepher
PARIS (Reuters) Jan 23rd, 2008 - European aerospace group EADS on Friday denied it was preparing for a possible collapse of the 20 billion euro A400M military aircraft programme as it tries to renegotiate late delivery penalties.
EADS has suspended production of the aircraft designed to carry troops and equipment to rugged combat zones like Afghanistan because of a row with engine makers over delays.
The Financial Times Deutschland reported potential losses had forced the Airbus parent company to question its role in Europe's biggest single arms development.
"According to FTD information, the mass of A400M problems is prompting a discussion at EADS over whether the project should be maintained," the newspaper reported.
The FTD quoted the head of Germany's air force as saying deliveries to the Luftwaffe of the troop and cargo plane would be delayed for as much as four years to 2014.
"That is a disastrous development," he was reported saying.

C130H CH14 makes first flight by LaurentH on Sat Dec 20, 2008 2:40 pm
On Friday December 19th, 2008 C130H CH14 made its long awaited first testflight from Melsbroek airport.
CH14 is the replacement aircraft acquired after C130H CH02 was lost in a hangar fire at Brussels Airport on May 5th, 2006.
With the money recovered from the insurance Sabena Technics acquired C130E N130EV (ex 64-0552, c/n 4047) from Evergreen Aviation in the United States in early 2007.
After a lenghty ferryflight that started on March 20th, the aircraft arrived in Brussels on April 8th, 2007.
The aircraft has undergone a complete overhaul in the workshops of Sabena Technics and will be delivered to the 15th Wing at Melsbroek after completion of the test programme.

Germany told of 18-month A400M delay by LaurentH on Tue Dec 02, 2008 8:08 pm
Reuters, Friday November 28 2008
* Procurement agency wants Airbus timetable clarification
* OCCAR does not expect maiden flight before next summer
* EADS reiterates no firm date for test flight, delivery
(Rewrites, adds EADS statement)
By Sabine Siebold
BERLIN, Nov 28 (Reuters) - European arms chiefs want Airbus parent EADS to break its silence over the timetable for the delayed A400M airlifter and are estimating it will be 18 months late, according to a German government document seen by Reuters.
The 20 billion euro project to provide airlift capacity to seven European NATO countries has been postponed indefinitely by Airbus Military as the planemaker and its engine producers argue over the blame for flaws in the
plane's turbo-prop power system.
Since delaying the first flight in September, EADS has declined to say when the aircraft, which was already running 6-12 months late, would be ready, saying it was at the mercy of the performance of its engine suppliers.
OCCAR, the procurement...

Belgium to join Sheppard AFB program by LaurentH on Sun Sep 27, 2009 12:16 pm
Stacy Johnson, Times Record News
Posted September 26, 2009 at 2:18 a.m.

Belgium will be reentering the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Program at
Sheppard’s 80th Flying Training Wing next year, and the business of training
NATO air warriors will continue as usual, according to ENJJPT steering
committee chairman Brig. Gen. Franco Marsiglia, commander of the Italian Air
Force Academy. The steering committee met this week at Sheppard to discuss
details of the multi-national undergraduate pilot training program.
“Next year we will have the reentry of the Belgium air force, and we are
very lucky because we will have more students and more European instructor
pilots,” Marsiglia said.
Marsiglia said the steering committee also focused on the new syllabus for
pilot training which includes the T-6 Texan II airframe, which replaced the
T-37 Tweet this past year for Phase 2 pilot training at the base.
“The main change was the new T-6 aircraft and the new syllabus, which is a
good syllabus for the...
